The New Kadampa Tradition (NKT) is a popular worldwide Buddhist organization with 1200+ Centers and tens of thousands of practitioners, and there are many websites that explain it, including the main site: Kadampa.org. If you type in “meditationinYourCity” or “meditateinYourCity” you’ll likely find a local Center website. There is also a short bio here: What is the New Kadampa Tradition (in brief).

Thank you, from an initial look at this site, I can see huge amounts of humility and transparency…. which is so rare in the world today and very refreshing 🎉
Brilliant and insightful. Much needed education for the modern world . In a world of social media this is vital
❤️
I have loved being apart of the New Kadampa Tradition, I was taught by geshe kelsang gyatso and his students, and then theirs, and now I’m probably being taught by my peers students, as I have just started again to learn Dharma, after lossing my memory, due to illness, that I survived due to the active interaction that is healing and freeing, from all dharmas that exist around our world, the new kadampa tradition is a spiritual dharma, and is very relevant to ones growth, in terms, of self consciousness and what that means to you personally, and how achieving such a thing can benefit your self and help you become more aware of all others hopefully allowing to benefit others, my practice in self awareness has come from this tradition, though geshe kelsang gyatso said, that examining other traditions and reading other accredited Buddhist texts was beneficial, as it was for me a different traditions text, that I didn’t really understand, and in it it spoke of seeking an oral lineage teacher, the new kadampa tradition, may have grown from the Kadampa tradition but it has fast become, the modern new Kadampa tradition, as I find, it’s ideology fitting within it’s oral lineage still unbroken from Buddha shakamunni, as fitting to today’s world and knowledge, as it may have been for the previous 600 yrs, though I think with our overview of today’s world makes it even more excessable
Hi there,
Thank you for setting up this site.
searching through it I found that this link for the moral discipline guide/ internal rules (which was linked within at least one of the articles) leads to an error (404 not found..):
https://newkadampatruth.org/a-moral-discipline-guide-the-internal-rules-of-the-new-kadampa-tradition-international-kadampa-buddhist-union
Thank you so much for pointing this out Hannah-May! The link should be: https://newkadampatruth.org/2023/09/06/the-internal-rules-of-the-new-kadampa-tradition-international-kadampa-buddhist-union/
We will correct that.
What an incredible and important accomplishment. Thank you. It breaks my heart to see how misunderstood our tradition and practice is; and at least here we find a clear corrective narrative based on facts. I rejoice.
I really liked reading the blog and think general public will find it very informative.
The website is very honest which is very refreshing in this era of misinformation
Well done. Reflects the truth of everything I’ve experienced of the NKT over the past 3 decades.
To me NKT is a pure tradition, followings Buddha’s teachings , with inspiring teachers and caring comunity. Thanks for all 🙏🏼💚
Great site. Thank you.
I go for refuge in the Guru and the Three Precious Jewels,
Sending my love from Brazil to all the Sangha around the world!
I am extremely grateful that our kind Spiritual Guide Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche has created the New Kadampa Tradition, IKBU and has sent a Teacher to the Netherlands 31 years ago where I connected with the Kadampa teachings. Buddha’s Mahayana teachings have helped me tremendously in developing a kind heart. (Work in progress… ..) Venerable Geshe-la and the NKT have given my life meaning, purpose and so much practical Dharma experience. Thank you also to the NKT managers, all the Resident Teachers, and all Dharma friends in the NKT for allowing me to share this path with you. (Thank you for your patience too….) With much love and gratitude, Gen Kelsang Dragpa
I am very happy to have met the New Kadampa Tradition. Gueshe Kelsang Gyatso’s teachings have literally changed my life. I will be forever grateful.
Thank you for this enduringly reliable and unceasingly kind tradition. I have checked carefully over two decades, from my children being toddlers until now young adults. My love of the teachings only ever grows. 💛
These teachings have made me a much more open hearted person and have really helped me bounce back from the mental negativity and depression I used get stuck in. I felt quite discharged and concerned about negative stuff I read on the internet some years ago but decided I’d rely on my own experience of the tradition and the many other people within it I have met who want to improve themselves and create a better world for everyone. Years on the evidence of my own experience and others disproved what I read. It saddens me to think of the lost opportunity for others who are put off by the misinformation out there. I will be forever grateful for this tradition and especially the practitioners who work selflessly and tirelessly to keep it going for future generations. ❤️
I was brought up to be suspicious of anything that looked cult like. In the past 7 years that I have been attending classes and volunteering in my centre, I have found nothing to be distrustful of. My own experience is that of receiving only kindness, warmth and acceptance, and a developing faith that all the teachings are true to those taught by Buddha and are so very beneficial applied to my daily life. Thank you to NKT and to Geshe-La for providing genuine wisdom and compassion.
